The Guajajara are one of Brazil’s most numerous indigenous people. They inhabit more than 10 indigenous lands on the eastern border of the Amazon. For the Guajajara, the extended family is the most important unity, which is composed of a number of nuclear families joined together by ties of kinship. Many families leave indigenous villages as a fixed residence and move to nearby villages in search of education in Portuguese language for children or even for temptation of city life. This work documents a Guajajara family in their daily life shared between the indigenous village and a small town in the interior of northern Brazil. In this small continuous migration, customs move along with the bodies, a magical relationship is created between the indian and the inland towns. Smells, sounds and temperatures mingle. The result is a contemporary mutation full of life.Without anything predetermined, I let myself be adopted by this family and, along with them, I surrender myself to the time.
